During the Kenyan-German Government negotiations held in Berlin earlier this month, Germany pledged 252.35 million Euro for the next development cooperation cycle of 2017 and 2018, including 100 million Euro of interest-subsidized loans.

On September 10, in the capital city of Morocco, Germany’s Development State Secretary Thomas Silberhorn and Morocco’s Environment Minister Hakima El Haité laid the foundations for a climate partnership. The idea is that the partnership will in future support the specific efforts of developing countries to implement their national climate protection plans.

Over the past two years, 30 pupils from the Bambino Secondary School in Lilongwe participated in the EU-funded FUTURE YOUNG ENTREPRENEURS (FYE) project, which encourages young people to come up with business ideas of sustainable start-ups. On September 21 in New York, Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier announced an important future project of German foreign policy: Germany is seeking a seat on the United Nations Security Council for the 2019–2020 term. At the opening event of the campaign, the German Foreign Minister described what his country aimed to do as a member of the Security Council, with a view to garnering support for the candidacy.
