The University of Freiburg will receive a subsidy for the “Merian International Centre for Advanced Studies in Africa”, making it the hub for African studies in Germany. There will also be centres for African studies in Ghana and Senegal. The program has been developed to strengthen academic exchange between Germany and Africa, decreasing global imbalance in knowledge.
